“Country code top-level domain“ (ccTCD) refers to the top-level domain associated with a country. Each country has its particular domain assigned by Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), i.e. each country / territory / geographical section has one unique ccTLD, administered by a single body.
The .GE country code top-level domain recognized by Georgia is administered by Caucasus Online.
The “domain name” denotes an identification sign comprised of:
A domain that ends with .ge and a second-level domain on its left, separated by dot (e.g. [--].ge); or
A domain that ends with .ge and a general domain on its left, separated by dot (e.g. [--].com.ge)
Only domain names with endings listed below and on terms prescribed thereto can be registered in the general domain zone:
.com.ge - can only be registered under the name of any natural person or legal entity;
.edu.ge - can only be registered under the name of general educational institutions/schools and higher educational institutions;
.org.ge - can only be registered under the name of non-commercial organizations;
.net.ge - can only be registered under the name of organizations which are network providers or their activities are related to electronic communications;
.pvt.ge - can only be registered under the name of private individuals;
.school.ge - can only be registered under the name of general educational institutions/schools;
.gov.ge - can only be registered under the name of state entities and right to register such domain names is delegated to the LEPL “Smart Logic”, Ministry of Justice of Georgia, under the memorandum of understanding concluded between the Registry and LEPL “Smart Logic” (smartlogic link).
